There was a lot of Williamstown volleyball history back in the gym recently.

WHS welcomed back members of the 2006 and 2021 state championship teams, marking 20 years since the program’s first state title and five years since the 2021 championship season.

For former players, it was a chance to come back, see old teammates and coaches, and spend time around a program that was such a big part of their high school years. For current players and families, it was a chance to meet some of the people who helped shape Williamstown volleyball over the years.

The 2006 team brought home Williamstown’s first state championship. Since then, the program has earned six state titles under Coach Chris Sheppard, who has led Williamstown girls volleyball since the program began in 1998. The 2021 team had a special season of its own, finishing 37-0 and winning both the state championship and the final NJSIAA Tournament of Champions title.

The night also included a big moment for the current Braves. Khloe Lynch recorded her 1,000th career assist! That milestone reflects a lot of time, work and trust built with her teammates. It was a great moment for Khloe, and one her teammates, coaches and family were able to celebrate with her.

Seeing former players back in the gym alongside today’s team was a nice reminder of how many students and families have been part of this program over the years. Different teams, different seasons and different memories, all connected by Williamstown volleyball.

Congratulations to our 2006 and 2021 championship teams, to Khloe on reaching 1,000 assists, and to Coach Sheppard and everyone who has helped make the program what it is today!
