Williamstown High School Engineering Academy Students Stay Busy This Summer

The Williamstown High School Engineering Academy had a busy and exciting summer, with students at every grade level participating in hands-on engineering experiences, college programs, internships, and STEM opportunities.

Our rising sophomores kicked off the summer by completing an Engineering Design Challenge focused on developing innovative solutions to meet the needs of people spending a day at the beach. Students worked through the engineering design process to identify problems, develop solutions, create prototypes, and present their final designs. A special thank you to the teachers, administrators, and parents who joined us to see our students showcase their creativity and hard work.

Rising juniors continued their engineering experience by attending a STEM Camp at Rowan University. Throughout the program, students explored multiple areas of engineering, interacted with Rowan University faculty, toured the campus, and experienced Rowan's new Dreamscape virtual reality program. We are incredibly grateful to the professors, coordinators, and staff at Rowan University who provided our students with such an engaging and memorable experience.

Our rising seniors took their learning beyond the classroom by completing 40-hour engineering internships, giving them the opportunity to experience engineering and STEM careers firsthand. Students worked alongside professionals, gained valuable workplace experience, and began making connections between the skills they have developed in the Engineering Academy and their future careers.

Several students also took advantage of additional STEM opportunities throughout the summer. Three Engineering Academy students attended the Exelon Foundation STEM Academy, a program designed to provide young women in high school with hands-on experiences in STEM, energy, and sustainability. All three of our students returned home with awards, including honors such as the Heart of the Community Award and Best Overall Design. Other students participated in programs including Rowan University's two-week STEAM program and additional STEM experiences throughout the region.

We are incredibly proud of our Engineering Academy students for choosing to spend their summer learning, designing, exploring, and preparing for their futures. We are also thankful for the families, educators, community partners, universities, and industry professionals who continue to provide opportunities and support for our students.

After such a successful summer, we can't wait to see what our students accomplish during the 2026-2027 school year!
